Minako's got a goal in mind, which seems to help. McGonagall's longer legs save her from being outpaced on the way to the art room.

"The pirate look's a classic, but you can get a pirate patch anywhere, this one needs to stand out."

Having a goal in mind is bound to be of help. If McGonagall were to get an eyepatch for herself, for one reason or another, she'd suggest tartan, but somehow she can't imagine Ichigo wearing a tartan eyepatch.

"I suggest to make some sort of design onto the patch. True, we may be both beginners, but that does not mean we shouldn't try"

"How about a strawberry, like his name?"

It's not exactly cool, but whatever, he can just own it, then it'll become cool.

A...strawberry? McGonagall isn't sure how a strawberry fits Ichigo's name - but if Minako says it fits, well, Minako surely knows more about this than she does.

"That'd be a good touch, although I imagine he would not be happy about wearing an eyepatch shaped like a strawberry"

It'd clash with the tough shinigami image he kind of has -- as if the final result won't clash with that anyway.

"Anything should be fair game as long as you don't add glitter"

"He can ask me to fix it tomorrow, then."

In other words, he'd better not complain after getting himself killed like an idiot.

"What's wrong with glitter?"

"Would you like to have a handful of glitter shoved into your eyesocket?"

Just the mere sound of that is unpleasant.

"I don't even have an eye socket!"

But she's putting the glitter back in a hurry.

The voice of reason triumphs again.

"An eyepatch doesn't have to be too complicated. Let's start by picking the color. A dark color may work well"

McGonagall couldn't foresee the end result would end being dramatically different to what she envisioned an eyepatch could be like.
